Arizona Superior Court Judge Resigns Amid Public Urination Incident: A Closer Look

An Arizona Superior Court judge has stepped down following an incident where she was allegedly caught urinating in public near the courthouse where she worked. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning on Oct. 4, prompting a response from Prescott police. Bodycam footage obtained by Fox News Digital shows Judge Pro Tempore Kristyne Schaaf-Olson in a compromising situation near the Courthouse Plaza. The responding officer expressed his disapproval of the situation as he approached Schaaf-Olson.

The video captured Schaaf-Olson struggling to identify herself as the officer tried to ascertain her identity. Her husband, Jason Olson, who works for the Town of Chino Valley, intervened and attempted to pull her away from the officers, disregarding their instructions to step back. The situation escalated as the officer accused Schaaf-Olson of inappropriate behavior in public, which Jason Olson vehemently denied.

As the confrontation continued, Jason Olson resisted police commands, leading to a physical altercation with the officer. He was eventually subdued and cited for resisting arrest, interfering with a crime scene investigation, and obstruction of government operations. Schaaf-Olson, on the other hand, received a citation for public urination or defecation, a misdemeanor offense.

Following the incident, Schaaf-Olson submitted her resignation to the Yavapai County Superior Court, citing personal, medical, and family reasons for her decision. She expressed her belief that given the circumstances in her life, it would be challenging to fulfill her commitment to serving the community as a judge. The court confirmed her resignation, effective Oct. 31, and indicated that her pre-trial conference is scheduled for Dec. 16.

The Prescott Police Department has not yet responded to inquiries from Fox News Digital regarding the incident. The situation involving Judge Schaaf-Olson and her husband, Jason Olson, continues to unfold as legal proceedings are set to take place in the coming weeks.
