The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event: Meet the Women Behind the Legends

The upcoming film project "The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event" by Sam Mendes has finalized the casting for four key roles. Mia McKenna-Bruce will portray Maureen Starkey, Saoirse Ronan will play Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai is set to portray Yoko Ono, and Aimee Lou Wood will take on the role of Pattie Boyd. These women were significant figures in the lives of the Beatles members they were associated with.

Maureen Cox, Ringo Starr's first wife, met him in 1962 and they quickly fell in love, eventually marrying in 1965. Linda Eastman, Paul McCartney's first wife, was a renowned photographer who caught McCartney's eye in 1967. John Lennon's wife, Yoko Ono, was an artist whom Lennon met at an exhibition and formed a deep creative partnership with. George Harrison's first wife, Pattie Boyd, was a successful model who shared Harrison's interest in Eastern mysticism.

Director Sam Mendes expressed his excitement about the talented actresses joining the project, highlighting the unique and captivating stories of Maureen, Linda, Yoko, and Pattie. The films will focus on each Beatles member individually, with Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, and Harris Dickinson playing the band members.

The Beatles films, set to be released in April 2028, will be directed by Sam Mendes and feature scripts by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Jack Thorne. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Neal Street Productions are collaborating on the project, with production by Mendes, Pippa Harris, Julie Pastor, and Alexandra Derbyshire. This marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd. has authorized the use of the band members' stories and music in scripted films.

McKenna-Bruce won awards for her role in "How to Have Sex," Ronan is known for her performances in acclaimed films like "Little Women," Sawai received recognition for her work in "Shōgun," and Wood was praised for her roles in "The White Lotus" and "Sex Education."
