ICE Apprehends Two Murder Suspects in Texas and Georgia: Honduran and Mexican Nationals Arrested for Homicide

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents apprehended two illegal immigrants accused of murder in Texas and Georgia on the same day. William Machado, a Honduran national wanted for murder in Texas, was arrested by ICE agents on October 22. During an interview following his capture, Machado confessed to the homicide.

In a separate operation in Georgia, ICE agents detained Salvador Rodriguez-Mendoza, a Mexican national wanted by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office for murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Rodriguez-Mendoza has a criminal record that includes multiple arrests for drunk driving, drug possession, and driving without a license. He had been previously removed from the U.S. in 2000 and 2018 but illegally re-entered the country for a third time.

DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin commended ICE for apprehending the two criminal illegal immigrants. She emphasized that individuals like Machado and Rodriguez-Mendoza, who show no regard for human life, have no place in the country. McLaughlin highlighted the efforts of ICE in arresting and removing dangerous criminals from American communities, with 70% of ICE arrests involving individuals charged with or convicted of crimes in the U.S.

ICE has placed detainers on both individuals pending the outcome of their criminal proceedings. Data from ICE indicates that approximately 70% of individuals arrested in fiscal year 2024 had been charged with or convicted of crimes in the U.S., including offenses such as homicide, assault, drug trafficking, and DUI.
