Tragic Discovery: Man Arrested After Remains of Four Children Found at Johnston County Home

A man in Johnston County has been arrested after authorities found the remains of four children at his home. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the man, Wellington Delano Dickens III, who confessed to killing his children. Deputies arrived at the scene and discovered the remains of the children in the trunk of a vehicle in the garage. The man's 3-year-old son was found unharmed inside the house.
The authorities obtained a search warrant for the property and are working with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the State Medical Examiner’s Office to process the scene. It is believed that the deceased children are Dickens’ three biological children, ages 6, 9, and 10, and his 18-year-old stepchild. The Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identities and causes of death of the victims.
Dickens has been charged with one count of murder in connection with the death of one of the children and is currently in custody at the Johnston County Jail without bond. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected to be filed as more information is uncovered.
