Thomas Bangalter's DJ Comeback: From Daft Punk to Mythologies

Former Daft Punk member Thomas Bangalter recently made a comeback to the DJ scene with a performance in Paris alongside Fred Again.. This marked his first DJ set in 16 years following the split with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo in 2021. Bangalter and Homem-Christo formed the iconic duo Daft Punk in 1993, known for their electronic dance, techno, and disco music. The duo announced their split in 2021 through a YouTube video titled Epilogue, where two robots part ways dramatically. Since then, Bangalter has been working on solo projects like Mythologies.

The Centre Pompidou in Paris hosted the Because Beaubourg event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the French label Because Music. Bangalter and Fred Again.. performed at the event alongside other artists like DJ Erol Alkan and Busy P. Fred Again.. expressed his admiration for Bangalter and Daft Punk in a post on his Instagram account after the show. Bangalter released an orchestral album titled Mythologies on April 7, 2023, which originated as a ballet score in Bordeaux, France, in July 2022.

In an interview with the BBC, Bangalter discussed the reason behind Daft Punk's split and his exploration of different music genres. He mentioned his shift away from electronic dance and techno music and expressed concerns about the relationship between technology and humans.
