Major Construction Project Underway in Lower Providence Township: Ridge Pike and Germantown Pike Intersection Enhancement

Lower Providence Township in Pennsylvania is undergoing a major construction project to enhance travel and safety at the intersection of Ridge Pike and Germantown Pike. The $26.2 million project will result in Ridge Pike being reduced to a single lane in each direction until January 2027. The lane reduction will be in effect 24 hours a day between Germantown Pike and Crosskeys Road, causing heavy congestion and delays, especially during rush hours.
The project will involve realigning and relocating the Ridge Pike and Germantown Pike intersection, creating a new signalized intersection approximately 1,300 feet east of its current location. A new Germantown Pike connector road will link Germantown Pike to Ridge Pike and extend southwest to Pechins Mill Road. Additionally, a new roundabout will connect River Road and Germantown Pike, and Ridge Pike will be widened, turn lanes added, and stormwater drainage systems upgraded to improve traffic flow and safety for commuters and residents.
Allan Myers, Inc., based in Worcester, Pennsylvania, is the general contractor for the project, which is funded through federal transportation dollars.
