Operation Midway Blitz: DHS Arrests Illegal Immigrants and U.S. Citizens in Chicago Area Enforcement Operation

A recent operation conducted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the Chicago area resulted in the arrest of three illegal immigrants and six U.S. citizens. The operation, known as Operation Midway Blitz, was described by DHS as one of the most violent days. During the enforcement operations in Cicero and Glendale Heights, individuals engaged in aggressive behavior towards law enforcement officers, causing multiple accidents and endangering public safety.
According to DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, the incidents involved assaults on law enforcement officers who were carrying out their duties to apprehend individuals who were violating immigration laws. The arrests included three illegal aliens and six U.S. citizens who were obstructing and threatening law enforcement agents.
The incidents on that day included U.S. citizens threatening violence and taking actions against immigration enforcement officers. One U.S. citizen, Isabel Mata, allegedly threatened a law enforcement officer and made threats against Border Patrol commander Chief Gregory Bovino. The incidents were reported to the FBI for further investigation.
In another incident, three U.S. citizens, identified as Jacqueline Lopez, Eliana Bahena, and Jonathan Uribe, were accused of following Border Patrol vehicles to draw attention to them. One of the drivers attempted to ram a vehicle, leading to the arrest of all three individuals by DHS.
A member of the Latin Kings gang, identified as Alexis Correa, targeted U.S. Border Patrol agents by displaying an anti-ICE flag and attempting to ram a government vehicle. Correa was arrested under federal law for assaulting federal officials. Another U.S. citizen, Alexander Torres, was arrested for impeding operations and tailing government vehicles.
Both Correa and Torres had criminal records, with Correa having convictions for unlawful possession of a firearm, destroying evidence, and a DUI, while Torres had convictions for unlawful possession of a firearm by a gang member. Additionally, three illegal immigrants from Mexico were encountered by USBP and taken into ICE custody for violating immigration laws.
Secretary Noem emphasized that law enforcement officers will continue to enforce the law despite the actions of rioters. Operation Midway Blitz was initiated in memory of Katie Abraham, who was killed in a drunk driving hit-and-run incident involving an illegal immigrant. The operation aims to target criminal illegal aliens who pose a threat to the community in sanctuary Illinois. Abraham and her friend, Chloe Polzin, were victims of the tragic incident caused by an illegal immigrant from Guatemala.
