Camila Cabello to Honor Grandmother at Día de Muertos Gala in Los Angeles

Camila Cabello, known for her emotional song "First Man" dedicated to her father, will be honoring her grandmother, Mercedes, at Carlos Eric Lopez's Día de Muertos Gala in Los Angeles. The event, set for Oct. 30, celebrates Mexican and Latino American artistic contributions and will feature Cabello presenting the Abuelita Award to her grandmother for her role in Camila's life and appreciation of her Latino heritage.

The gala will also feature a performance by Mexican-American singer-songwriter DannyLux, who will pay tribute to the spirit of remembrance with his song "Ya No Estás." Lucky Athletes founder Jesus Perez will be recognized for his work with Latino youth through sports. The event, organized by Lopez, aims to highlight Latino culture and has garnered support from various Latino artists, business leaders, and celebrities over the years.

Lopez will launch TúTomorrow, a nonprofit empowering Latino creatives and entrepreneurs, at the gala. Student grants will be awarded to Los Angeles-based college students in partnership with the Hispanic Federation to support their creative endeavors. The event will also feature sponsors like Lexus, Tequila Don Julio, Nike, DNERO, Calamigos Ranch, and Maremoto, with Tequila Don Julio offering pan de muerto and signature cocktails from Panadería Rosetta of Mexico City.

The Día de Muertos Gala is a platform to bring Latino communities together to share stories and support each other during the sacred holiday. This year's Abuelita Award recipient, Mercedes Rodriguez, symbolizes the importance of grandmothers as the heart of families and keepers of traditions. The event aims to showcase the strength of unity within the Latino community and celebrate its rich cultural heritage.
