2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame Nominees: A Diverse Lineup of Music Innovators

The 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame class nominees feature a diverse group of music innovators, including Taylor Swift, Kenny Loggins, LL Cool J, Pink, Sarah McLachlan, and David Byrne of Talking Heads. Other nominees include members of The Go-Go’s, The Guess Who, America, and Kiss. The list also includes Richard Carpenter, Harry Wayne Casey, and Boz Scaggs, among others.

The Hall of Fame annually inducts performers and non-performers. This year's non-performer nominees include disco songwriter Pete Bellotte, Swedish pop producer Andreas Carlsson, and songwriter Steve Kipner. Madonna collaborator Patrick Leonard, Vini Poncia, Martin Page, and the duo Terry Britten and Graham Lyle are also on the list.

Country songwriters like Jeffrey Steele, Don Williams, and Larry Weiss are represented, as well as R&B-pop songwriters Tom Snow and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart. Some returning nominees include Walter Afanasieff, Bachman and Cummings of The Guess Who, and Bob McDill.

Established in 1969, the Songwriters Hall of Fame honors those who have made significant contributions to popular music. Inductees must have a notable catalog of songs and qualify for induction 20 years after the first commercial release of a song. Past inductees include Elton John, Brian Wilson, Carole King, and many others. The 2026 inductees will be announced in early 2026.
