Introducing Eco-Rider 2.0: Revolutionizing Sustainability in the Music Industry

The nonprofit Bye Bye Plastic Foundation, founded by DJ/producer Blond:ish, has partnered with Gigwell to introduce the Eco-Rider 2.0 sustainability toolkit for artists, managers, and booking agents. This initiative aims to promote eco-conscious touring practices and reduce single-use plastic waste in the music industry. The original Eco-Rider, launched in 2019, has already made a significant impact by preventing the circulation of thousands of plastic bottles and cups globally. Artists can now choose to incorporate the sustainability rider into their booking process, encouraging promoters and venues to adopt greener hospitality practices and eliminate plastic use.

Blond:ish shared that the eco rider has significantly reduced the use of plastic at events, from 100% to just 20%. Gigwell's CEO, Jeremie Habib, highlighted the platform's capabilities in facilitating this change through integrated tour-booking tools, venue-database routing software, and e-signature contract flows that minimize paper waste. The Eco-Rider 2.0 offers a comprehensive toolkit with educational resources, networking opportunities, and seamless integration into the booking workflow to promote sustainability in the music industry.

Notable artists and agencies, including Sam Feldt, Madame Gandhi, and Dirtybird, have shown support for the initiative. The official launch of Eco-Rider 2.0 will take place at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE 2025) on October 22, where Bye Bye Plastic and Gigwell will host a panel to discuss the toolkit's global scalability. Following the launch, artists and agencies worldwide can access the toolkit to incorporate eco-friendly practices into their touring plans. For more information, visit gigwell.com.
