Man Arrested in NYC for Threatening Federal Agents During 'No Kings' Protests

A man from upstate New York was apprehended in New York City for allegedly threatening to attack federal agents during the "No Kings" protests. David Cox, 54, was arrested in Brooklyn after claiming to have firebombs in his vehicle and intending to confront ICE agents at the Manhattan rally. The NYPD reported that Cox made these threats while conversing with a bystander at a gas station in upstate New York.

Following the conversation, the bystander contacted local authorities to report Cox's statements. The next day, as thousands of demonstrators gathered for the "No Kings" rally in the city, Cox's vehicle was spotted crossing into Brooklyn, leading to his arrest without any resistance. Despite the claims, no firebombs or weapons were found in Cox's vehicle, as per The New York Post.

Cox is facing charges of making a terroristic threat, false report of terrorism, and making a threat of mass harm, according to the police. These charges emerged amidst nationwide protests against President Donald Trump's administration, where protesters expressed their dissent through satirical costumes and signs. Despite the significant turnout in New York City, no arrests related to the protests were reported by the NYPD.

While the protests in New York remained peaceful, incidents of violence occurred in other parts of the country. In Portland, three individuals were arrested after federal authorities used tear gas to disperse violent protesters, and 15 people were arrested at a demonstration outside an ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois. At present, there is no information available regarding legal representation for Cox.
