Preserving History: Insomniac and Avalon Secure Future of Iconic Los Angeles Venue

The historic building at the corner of Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles has been a hub for entertainment for almost a century. Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella and Avalon owner John Lyons recently secured the venue's future through a real estate deal. The venue, known as Avalon, has a rich history dating back to 1927, hosting various entertainment events over the years.
Avalon has been a continuous entertainment venue, from vaudeville shows to network TV programs like The Hollywood Palace. Lyons, a sound designer and club operator, transformed the venue into a modern dance destination in 2002. His vision and dedication have made Avalon a respected and long-standing venue in Los Angeles, hosting renowned artists and events.
The agreement between Insomniac and Lyons was not about saving Avalon from closure but about ensuring its longevity. Lyons' lease was nearing its end, and the building's ownership was in transition. To secure the venue's future, Lyons approached Rotella, who saw the importance of preserving such an iconic music venue in Los Angeles.
The purchase of the building by Insomniac and Lyons provides them with stability and the ability to plan for the long term. With the lease now indefinite, they can invest in the venue, create community-driven events, and continue to contribute to the vibrant music scene in Los Angeles. The acquisition of Avalon ensures that its legacy will endure for years to come.
