Taylor Swift Misses Grammy Eligibility Window for The Life of a Showgirl: A Look Back at Her Grammy History

Taylor Swift will not be competing for a nomination at the 68th annual Grammy Awards as she did not release any music during the eligibility window. The eligibility window for the awards ran from August 31st, 2024, to August 30th, 2025. Swift's new album, The Life of a Showgirl, and its lead single, "The Fate of Ophelia," were released after the cutoff date, missing the deadline by over a month. This marks the first time since she was a teenager that Swift will not be in contention for a Grammy nomination.

Billboard notes that Swift last skipped a Grammy ceremony in 2007 when she was 17 years old. Her breakout single, "Tim McGraw," was eligible for nominations in the Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance categories but was not submitted for consideration. Since then, Swift has consistently received Grammy nominations, with only three years—2009, 2011, and 2017—where she did not receive nods despite being entered in multiple categories each time. Throughout her career, Swift has won a total of 14 Grammys, including four wins for Album of the Year.

Despite her past successes at the Grammy Awards, Swift did not receive any awards at the 2025 ceremony.
