Indigenous People's Day Celebration 2023: Featuring Macklemore and More!

The third annual Indigenous People’s Day celebration, organized by NDN Collective, is set to take place on October 13. This year's event will feature rapper Macklemore as the headlining performer at Main Street Square. The celebration is free and will include live music, speeches, a parade, vendors, food trucks, and local service organizations. Murray Lee, the community development coordinator at NDN Collective, mentioned that Macklemore has been a strong supporter of the organization and is excited to participate in the event.
Last year, Macklemore made a surprise appearance at the celebration, and this year, his presence is being advertised, which is expected to attract a larger crowd. The event aims to bring together Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to connect and learn more about tribal practices. Participants can witness a tipi assembly demonstration and engage with members from 69 tribal nations across the country.
The celebration will begin with a march at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park, followed by performances at Main Street Square Plaza starting at 2 p.m. The lineup includes AntoineX, Bearhead Sisters, Miracle Spotted Bear, Nevad Brave, Xiuhtezcatl, and Macklemore. Additionally, there will be comedy acts, spoken word performances, and a short film screening. The Blackstone Singers will be the drum group for the event, with Cante Heart and Whitney Rencountre serving as emcees.
For those unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed on NDN Collective's various media platforms. The celebration aims to bring people together to celebrate Indigenous culture and foster connections between different communities.
