The song samples and interpolates Jackson's 1987 hit 'Pleasure Principle.' The album has exceeded sales expectations, and Billboard has now revealed the Hot 100 ranking for 'Principal.'

'Principal' debuted at #92 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, marking Janet Jackson's first appearance on the chart this decade. She is now the first Black female artist to have Hot 100 hits in five different decades (80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, 20s), joining the ranks of Madonna and Cher. Other Black performers who have achieved this feat include Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder.
