FSIS Recall Alert: Hillshire Brands Corn Dog and Sausage on a Stick Products Contaminated with Wood Pieces

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a recall for around 58 million pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products due to potential contamination with pieces of wood in the batter. The affected products, produced by The Hillshire Brands Company, were packaged between March 17, 2025, and September 26, 2025. Consumers can find a list of the recalled products and their labels on the FSIS website. These items, bearing establishment numbers “EST-582” or “P-894,” were distributed nationwide to retail and food service locations.
The recall was initiated after The Hillshire Brands Company received several consumer complaints, including five reports of injuries related to the contaminated products. FSIS is concerned that some of these products may still be in consumers’ refrigerators, freezers, as well as in school and institution storage. Consumers, schools, and institutions are advised not to consume the recalled products and to either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase. It is crucial to ensure the safety of individuals and prevent any further incidents related to the consumption of these potentially hazardous products.
