Remembering Charlie Kirk: The Inaugural Turning Point USA Event at the University of Minnesota

A large crowd of over 2,000 people gathered at the University of Minnesota for the inaugural Turning Point USA event following the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. The event, part of the "This is the Turning Point" tour, was hosted by conservative commentator Michael Knowles. Knowles paid tribute to Kirk's achievements and emphasized his faith during the event.
During the event, Knowles engaged with the audience on various topics, including women's suffrage and media bias. Attendees were seen chanting "Charlie! Charlie!" in a video posted by Turning Point USA. The event drew a significant line of students eager to enter the Northrop Auditorium well before the doors opened.
One high school senior, Keane Pfeifer, shared how Kirk inspired him to speak out and stand firm in his beliefs. Pfeifer highlighted the impact of youth activism and the importance of unity in effecting change. Despite the event's positive atmosphere, around 50 demonstrators protested near the auditorium with signs advocating against hate.
The "American Comeback Tour" commenced at Utah Valley University, where Kirk was tragically shot by Tyler Robinson. The tour's subsequent stop at Colorado State University featured a vigil in Kirk's memory. The tour is set to continue at Virginia Tech, with Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin listed as one of the speakers on the official website. The tour aims to carry forward Kirk's mission of promoting free speech and conservative values.
