Graceland Theft Attempt: Woman Faces Sentencing for Mail Fraud and Identity Theft

A woman who attempted to steal Graceland is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court in Memphis on Tuesday morning. Lisa Findley, who initially pleaded not guilty to mail fraud and identity theft, changed her plea to guilty in February. She admitted to mail fraud as part of a plea agreement, with the identity theft charge being dismissed. The U.S. Attorney has recommended a prison sentence of up to 57 months for the mail fraud charge. Findley allegedly created a fake company, Naussany Investments, to try to steal Graceland from Elvis Presley's family. The fake company claimed that Elvis' daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, borrowed $4 million and left Graceland as collateral before her death. Findley is accused of submitting fake loan documents to the Shelby County Register's Office in an attempt to sell Graceland. After the fraud was uncovered, an email was sent to news agencies claiming to be from a Nigerian scammer who steals the identities of deceased individuals.
