Kamala Harris Supports Zohran Mamdani and Democratic Rising Stars in Various Races

Former Vice President Kamala Harris recently shared her thoughts on New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani during an interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. Harris discussed her new book "107 Days" and her "stars project," where she identified rising stars in the Democratic Party. When asked about Mamdani, Harris expressed her support for the Democratic nominee and emphasized the importance of supporting candidates in various races across the country.
While Harris acknowledged Mamdani as a rising star, she also highlighted other Democratic candidates running for mayor in different cities, such as Barbara Drummond in Mobile, Alabama, and Helena Moreno in New Orleans. Harris emphasized the diversity of talent within the Democratic Party and encouraged people to pay attention to candidates running for various offices nationwide.
Despite being the Democratic candidate for New York City mayor, Mamdani has not received endorsements from key party leaders like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. However, New York Governor Kathy Hochul endorsed Mamdani after three months, citing his commitment to standing up to Donald Trump and making life more affordable for New Yorkers.
Mamdani's progressive proposals, such as city-owned grocery stores and his stance on the anti-Israel slogan "globalize the intifada," have drawn criticism from some moderate Democrats. Despite the challenges, Mamdani continues to campaign for the mayoral race, aiming to bring his vision to the city of New York.
