Hurricane Gabrielle Rapidly Intensifying: Latest Updates and Forecast
Hurricane Gabrielle is currently a Category 1 storm with winds of 75 mph, but it is expected to rapidly intensify and become a major hurricane by Monday night. The storm is forecast to turn northward on Monday and then push northeastward by midweek. Residents in Bermuda should stay vigilant as wind and rain impacts are possible in the coming days.
Gabrielle became the second hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season on Sunday evening. In addition to Gabrielle, there are two tropical waves being monitored. One is located in the central open Atlantic and has a Medium Development Chance of becoming a tropical depression later in the week. The second tropical wave, closer to the Lesser Antilles, also has a Low Development Chance of organizing over the next few days.
