Beyoncé and Jay-Z Nominated for Emmy Awards: Power Couple Competes in Outstanding Variety Special (Live) Category

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Jay-Z are both nominated for an Emmy in the outstanding variety special (live) category at the upcoming 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. Jay-Z, known as Shawn Carter, is recognized for his work as an executive producer for the Super Bowl halftime show featuring Kendrick Lamar. The show received a total of four Emmy nominations, including outstanding directing, music direction, and choreography. Beyoncé is also nominated in the same category for her NFL Christmas Day halftime performance special on Netflix, titled the "Beyoncé Bowl," which garnered five Emmy nominations. She recently won her first Emmy for outstanding costumes for the same special.

The Emmy nominations mark another instance of the power couple competing in award shows. Beyoncé and Jay-Z have previously competed in different categories at the Grammy Awards, with Beyoncé surpassing her husband in nominations this year. They both received an Emmy nod in 2015 for their "On the Run Tour" HBO special. The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where the Carters will once again vie for recognition in the entertainment industry.
