Facebook Settlement: How Users Can Claim Their Share of $725 Million

Facebook users are set to receive a portion of a $725 million settlement following privacy issues. Lawsuits were filed against the company for allowing third parties to access user data without consent, stemming from the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Users who used Facebook between May 24, 2007, and Dec. 22, 2022, may qualify for a share of the settlement by making a claim in 2023. After deducting fees and costs, the remaining amount will be distributed based on a points system, with the median payment expected to be $30. Approximately 28 million people filed claims, with 17 million validated so far. Payments have started to be distributed, with recipients notified via email before receiving their share over the next 10 weeks. If unsure about the claim status, users can contact the Settlement Administrator with their Claim ID. Meta, Facebook's parent company, denies wrongdoing but opted to settle to avoid a trial.
