San Jose Jewelry Shop Owner Attacked in Smash-and-Grab Robbery: Community Calls for Justice

An elderly jewelry shop owner is recovering after being pushed to the ground during a smash-and-grab robbery at Kim Hung Jewelry in San Jose, California. The incident, captured on surveillance video, showed a group of suspects crashing an SUV into the store's windows before storming in to steal items from display cases. One suspect shoved the store owner while others grabbed merchandise.

During the robbery, one suspect pointed a gun at an employee while another checked the employee's pockets. The group quickly fled when a car horn sounded outside. San Jose City Councilmember Bien Doan expressed outrage at the incident, emphasizing the impact on the victim's family and business.

The victim, who suffered a stroke and injuries from broken glass, spent the night in the hospital but was later released in stable condition. The suspects fled in multiple vehicles before the police arrived, and they remain unidentified and at large. Calls for change and justice were made during a news conference attended by the victim's family and community members.
