Nepal Prime Minister Resigns Amid Protests: Unrest and Chaos Grip the Nation
Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stepped down following widespread protests against corruption in the country. Demonstrators in Nepal took to the streets, setting fire to the homes of several political leaders in response to a social media ban that led to the partial closure of Kathmandu's international airport. The protests escalated into a second day, with reports and videos on social media showing protesters targeting the residences of top political figures in and around Kathmandu. To maintain order, a curfew was enforced in the capital and other cities, and schools in Kathmandu were shut down. Among the properties set ablaze were the homes of Sher Bahadur Deuba, President Ram Chandra Poudel, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and Communist party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Additionally, a private school owned by Deuba's wife, Arzu Deuba Rana, who serves as the foreign minister, was also targeted.
