Dua Lipa's Regional Cover Tour: Celebrating Musical Icons Across the Globe

Dua Lipa showcased her talent for covering songs from artists hailing from the cities she performs in during her recent visit to Chicago. At her Radical Optimism show at the United Center, Lipa surprised the audience by inviting Chaka Khan, a Chicago native, to join her on stage for a rendition of the 1983 Rufus hit "Ain't Nobody." The following night, Lipa paid tribute to another iconic Chicago act by performing Earth, Wind & Fire's classic track "September."
This trend of regional covers began during Lipa's Australian and New Zealand tour, where she covered songs by AC/DC, Lorde, and Kylie Minogue, among others. The tradition continued as Lipa traveled to Europe, with notable performances including Enrique Iglesias' "Hero" in Madrid and Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" in London with Jay Kay. Lipa also collaborated with artists like Charli XCX, Dave McCabe of the Zutons, and paid homage to the Beatles in their hometown by covering "Hey Jude."
As the Radical Optimism Tour crossed the Atlantic to Toronto, Lipa added regional covers of Nelly Furtado's "Like A Bird" and Mustafa's "Name of God" to her setlist. With upcoming shows in Boston, Lipa has the opportunity to explore the city's rich musical history, potentially covering songs by artists like Pixies, Aerosmith, and the Modern Lovers. Lipa's unique approach to incorporating regional covers into her performances adds an exciting element to her live shows, showcasing her versatility and paying homage to the musical heritage of each city she visits.
