Update on Arrests in Capitol Hill Intern Murder Case: U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro Press Conference

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro is set to provide an update on the arrests made in connection with the tragic murder of Capitol Hill intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym. The press conference is scheduled to commence at noon. Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old congressional intern, was fatally shot near the Mount Vernon Square Metro station in Northwest D.C. on Monday night. The incident occurred at the intersection of 7th and M streets NW, where he was struck by gunfire and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The Metropolitan Police Department reported that multiple suspects emerged from a vehicle and opened fire on a group of individuals, resulting in Tarpinian-Jachym's death. A woman and a 16-year-old boy were also injured in the shooting but survived. Investigators believe that Tarpinian-Jachym was not the intended target of the attack. Tarpinian-Jachym, a senior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst majoring in finance with a minor in political science, had been interning with the office of Kansas Rep. Ron Estes. Prior to this role, he had served as a fellow with the Fund for American Studies. Friends and colleagues described him as a dedicated and intelligent individual, with one friend suggesting the introduction of legislation in his honor to enhance police support in D.C. Rep. Estes expressed his condolences to Tarpinian-Jachym's family, highlighting his kindness and positive demeanor. He acknowledged the intern's contributions to Kansas' 4th District and the nation.
