The Dead Dance: Lady Gaga's Haunting Music Video Directed by Tim Burton

Lady Gaga has unveiled the music video for “The Dead Dance,” directed by Tim Burton, to coincide with her appearance on Netflix’s “Wednesday.” The video features Gaga surrounded by baby dolls on a wall, starting a lively dance that awakens the dolls. Masked backup dancers join her as day turns into night, with the dolls grooving to the catchy tune.

Reports of the video shoot surfaced in July, revealing Gaga filming with Burton on the Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, Mexico. At Spotify and Netflix’s “Wednesday” Graveyard Gala, Gaga announced the release date of the single and discussed her cameo on the show. She expressed her enjoyment of working with Tim Burton and the cast, confirming the arrival of “The Dead Dance.”

The release of “The Dead Dance” coincides with the second half of “Wednesday” on Netflix, where Gaga appears as Rosaline Rotwood, a psychic teacher in the 1960s. Gaga collaborated with the “Wednesday” team after the first season and wrote the song specifically for the series. The dance sequence in the show was initially filmed with a placeholder track before “The Dead Dance” was incorporated.

Music supervisor Jen Malone praised Gaga’s contribution to the show, highlighting the uniqueness of the new song and its perfect fit for the series. “The Dead Dance” adds to Gaga’s busy schedule, as she continues her “Mayhem Ball” tour that began in Las Vegas. She is set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards and resume her tour in North America and internationally.
