University of Kentucky Cheerleader Arrested for Concealing Dead Infant in Closet

A 21-year-old cheerleader from the University of Kentucky was arrested for allegedly concealing her dead infant in a closet. The Lexington Police Department apprehended Laken Snelling after responding to a call about an unresponsive infant at a residence on Park Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found the deceased infant at the scene. Snelling, identified as the infant's mother by the police, faces charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant. The cause of the infant's death will be determined by the Fayette County Coroner's Office.
Snelling, a senior at the University of Kentucky and a member of the STUNT team, is involved in a head-to-head cheer competition that emphasizes technical and athletic skills. She was found to have wrapped the infant in a towel inside a black trash bag and placed it in a closet, as per a police document cited by WLEX.
During an interview with the police, Snelling confessed to giving birth. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, led by the Lexington Police Department's Special Victims Section.
