Respecting BTS: Recent Incidents Highlight the Importance of Privacy and Boundaries

A Chinese woman attempted to break into the home of BTS member Jungkook and was handed over to prosecutors by the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul. The woman, in her 30s, was accused of trying to enter Jungkook's home by repeatedly pressing the front door password on June 11. She was apprehended as a red offender after the police received a report about the incident. The woman claimed she was not a resident of Korea and had come to the country to observe the political situation after Jungkook's military discharge.

Jungkook, who served in the artillery brigade of the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do, for a year and a half, was discharged from the military along with Jimin in December 2023. This incident is not the first time international interest in BTS has taken a negative turn. In a previous incident involving Jin, a Japanese woman in her 50s kissed him on the cheek at a fan event shortly after his military discharge. The woman was charged with harassing a crowded place under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.

During Jungkook's military service, a hacking organization led by a Chinese national attempted to steal 8.4 billion won worth of Hive shares from him. Fortunately, the payment was suspended, preventing any actual financial loss. The perpetrator, a 35-year-old individual named Jeon, was arrested in Thailand and repatriated to Korea, where he was handed over to the prosecution on the 29th.

In conclusion, incidents involving unauthorized intrusions and inappropriate behavior towards BTS members highlight the importance of respecting their privacy and personal space. Fans should express their admiration for the group in a respectful and lawful manner, without resorting to intrusive or harmful actions.
