Justice Department Worker Fired for Sandwich Incident Faces Misdemeanor Charges

A Justice Department worker named Sean Charles Dunn was fired for allegedly throwing a sandwich at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent. Initially facing a felony charge, Dunn was later charged with a misdemeanor after a grand jury did not indict him. U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, expressed determination to hold offenders accountable and ensure public safety.
The incident, captured on video, showed Dunn fleeing after throwing the sandwich at the officer. Despite the lack of a felony indictment, Dunn will still be prosecuted on misdemeanor charges to seek the maximum penalties allowed by law. The aim is to put an end to the chaos in the district.
According to a statement of facts attached to a criminal complaint, Dunn verbally confronted CBP Agent Gregory Lairmore, pointing fingers and shouting obscenities before throwing the sandwich at him. Dunn admitted to the act while being processed by the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident sparked controversy and raised concerns about public safety in the district.
