Tragic Incident at Atwood Lake: Millersburg Woman Charged with Aggravated Murder and Endangering Children

A tragic incident occurred at Atwood Lake, leading to formal charges of aggravated murder, domestic violence, and endangering children being filed against a Millersburg woman by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office. The incident involved a woman, Ruth Miller, and her three children crashing a golf cart into Atwood Lake near Atwood Marina West on August 23. Initial reports suggested that Ruth Miller, following what she believed were directives from God, threw her 4-year-old son into the lake, with her husband also reported missing.
After extensive search efforts, both the 4-year-old son and the husband were found deceased at the bottom of Atwood Lake. A joint investigation by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District led to Ruth Miller being charged with two counts of aggravated murder, two counts of domestic violence, and one count of endangering children.
