Father Arrested on Suspicion of Murder in Case of Missing 7-Month-Old Boy

The father of a missing 7-month-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was seen assisting investigators in the search for the child's body in a remote field in Moreno Valley, California. Jake Haro, in an orange prison jumpsuit, was spotted with sheriff's deputies and cadaver dogs in an area off the 60 Freeway. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department confirmed his involvement in the search, but the child, Emmanuel Haro, was not found.
Haro, 32, and the child's mother, Rebecca Haro, 41, were both arrested on suspicion of murder at their home in Cabazon, California, following a report by the mother that Emmanuel had been kidnapped outside a store in Yucaipa. However, authorities later determined that the reported kidnapping did not take place and believe that the child is deceased. The investigation into the baby's disappearance has led to a multi-agency effort, including search warrants, evidence seizure, and community concern.
Rebecca initially reported to authorities that she was assaulted by an unknown man while changing her son's diaper outside a store and was left unconscious, only to find Emmanuel missing when she regained consciousness. However, inconsistencies in her statement led investigators to conclude that no kidnapping had occurred in Yucaipa. The search for Emmanuel's remains is ongoing as authorities believe he is no longer alive.
Jake Haro had previously served time in jail for felony willful child cruelty in 2023, stemming from an incident in 2018. He was still on probation related to that conviction. Sheriff Shannon Dicus expressed the tragic nature of the investigation and vowed to continue the search for Emmanuel. The involvement of multiple law enforcement agencies, district attorney's offices, and the community has been crucial in bringing attention to the case.
An attorney representing Jake Haro acknowledged his client's past conviction for child cruelty but emphasized that he is not evading his record. The search for Emmanuel remains ongoing, and anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department or submit tips anonymously through We-Tip. The authorities are committed to holding the parents accountable for their actions in this heartbreaking situation.
