A teenager and a 61-year-old man were rescued from the water at Hampton Beach, with the teenager in critical condition. The two individuals were known to each other, according to Hampton Police Chief Alex Reno. The incident occurred after a distress swimmer call was made at 6:40 p.m. on Sunday, prompting off-duty lifeguards to respond and rescue the pair. Lifesaving measures were initiated on the 17-year-old, who was then taken to Exeter Hospital. The 61-year-old was treated at the scene and is now in stable condition. Due to the rescues and hazardous water conditions, access to the waters at Hampton Beach has been closed, with a reevaluation scheduled for Monday morning.
