Agradaa, whose real name is Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, was sentenced to fifteen years with hard labour for defrauding individuals who attended her church. The charges against her included defrauding by false pretences and charlatanic advertisement.
Following more than two years of legal proceedings, Nana Agradaa was found guilty and incarcerated at Nsawam Prison. On her daughter Rihanna's birthday, which fell on August 20, it was the first time she had to celebrate without her mother. Agradaa's husband, Angel Asiamah, shared a TikTok video of Rihanna smiling and holding her phone in a car while he played the song "Happy Birthday Sweet Girl" by Mila Dallas in the background, noting that it was Agradaa's birthday gift to her daughter.
Nana Agradaa and her daughter shared a close bond before her imprisonment, often appearing together in videos. After Agradaa's incarceration, a video of Rihanna pleading for her mother's release sparked controversy on social media, with many criticizing Asiamah for using his daughter to campaign for his wife's release. Despite the backlash, the birthday message from Agradaa to her daughter resonated with many, eliciting various reactions from social media users.
