Violent Beatdown in Downtown Cincinnati: Suspects Released on Bond, Eighth Suspect Still at Large

Two individuals who were arrested in connection with a violent beatdown in downtown Cincinnati have been released on bond, while authorities are still searching for an eighth suspect involved in the assault. DeKyra Vernon, 24, and Aisha Devaughn, 25, were released from the Hamilton County Jail after their bond amounts were reduced. Both Vernon and Devaughn are facing charges of felonious assault, assault, and aggravated rioting.

The Cincinnati Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating the eighth suspect linked to the July 26 attack that occurred on 4th Street and Elm. The incident, which was captured on video and went viral, involved a shocking level of violence. Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact the CPD.

The beatings took place outside a local nightclub on the corner of Fourth and Elm Street in the early morning hours of July 26. Several individuals, including Patrick Rosemond, Jermaine Matthews, Montianez Merriweather, and Dominique Kittle, have been charged with felonious assault, assault, and aggravated rioting. Matthews posted his bond, while the other suspects remain in custody. Merriweather is also facing a federal gun charge for illegal possession of a weapon.

Gregory Wright, a seventh suspect, was indicted on charges of aggravated riot and felony aggravated robbery for his alleged involvement in the violent beatdown. Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval stated that all individuals involved in the attack would be charged, emphasizing the need for further investigation and arrests. Rev. Damon Lynch, a community leader, raised concerns about the racial dynamics of the case, noting that the victims, who are White, have not been charged. Lynch emphasized the importance of holding all perpetrators accountable, regardless of race.
