Fox News Mocks Newsom, Accidentally Roasts Trump Instead: A Look at the 'Newsom's Online Frenzy' Segment

Fox News attempted to mock California Governor Gavin Newsom on live TV, but their efforts backfired. During a segment on "Fox & Friends Weekend," host Charles Hurt and guest Joe Piscopo tried to ridicule Newsom's satirical tweets mimicking Trump's style. However, their attempt inadvertently made fun of the President instead, introducing Newsom's trolling campaign to a new audience of Fox viewers.
The segment, titled "Newsom's Online Frenzy," featured Hurt theatrically reading one of Newsom's tweets in a Trump-like manner, while Piscopo laughed and dismissed the governor. Fox viewers took notice of the irony, with some pointing out that the network was unintentionally mocking Trump's communication style. Newsom's press office had been posting satirical tweets during a redistricting showdown, aiming to tilt California's Congressional map in favor of Democrats.
Newsom's tweets mocked Trump's presidency, Congress, and communication style, with references to Trump Tower, Putin, KFC, and the infamous "tiny hands" meme. Despite Hurt's attempt to mock Newsom, he omitted the most scathing parts of the tweet, which further ridiculed Trump. Piscopo also criticized Newsom for his handling of wildfires in Southern California but failed to mention specific affected areas.
If Newsom's redistricting efforts are successful, Democrats could gain control of the House in 2026, potentially impacting Trump's final years in office. Newsom plans to call a special election on Nov. 4 for California voters to decide on the redistricting issue. The segment on Fox News inadvertently highlighted Newsom's trolling strategy and drew attention to the political implications of the redistricting battle.
