Tragic Discovery: Mother and Infant Daughter Found Deceased in Canal near Oakdale
A woman and her infant daughter from Sacramento County have been found deceased in their vehicle in a canal near Oakdale. Whisper Owen and her eight-month-old daughter Sandra McCarty went missing on July 15 and were last seen in Fresno. Authorities confirmed that Owen's vehicle was captured on traffic cameras in the Atwater area on the night she disappeared. An Endangered Missing Advisory was issued by the California Highway Patrol for their case.
A search group called Adventures With Purpose, along with diver Juan Heredia, conducted a search in rural west Oakdale to locate the missing mother and daughter. Owen's family revealed that the police tracked her phone and the last ping was at a canal in the area. Subsequently, Owen's vehicle was found submerged under a bridge by the search group, and the bodies of Owen and McCarty were discovered.
Following the discovery, a San Joaquin County Sheriff search team has been dispatched to the area to further investigate the incident. The tragic outcome has left the family devastated, and the community mourns the loss of the mother and her infant daughter.
