Justice Served: Nicholas Rossi Convicted of Rape in Utah

A fugitive named Nicholas Rossi has been convicted of rape in Utah after a three-day trial in a Utah County court. The jury found him guilty of first-degree felony rape, which carries a sentence of five years to life in the Utah State Correctional Facility. Rossi is set to be sentenced on October 20, 2025. He also faces a separate rape allegation in Salt Lake County in 2008.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill encouraged survivors of sexual assault to come forward and report their experiences. He emphasized the importance of reporting such crimes to ensure they can be investigated and prosecuted for justice to be served. Rossi, who was extradited from Scotland to the US in January 2024, had previously used an alias, Arthur Knight, but admitted during a bail hearing in Utah that he and the alias were the same person.

The victim of the rape described her relationship with Rossi, stating that he was initially charming but became controlling and financially dependent on her. She recounted an incident where Rossi flew into a rage, leading her to lock herself in her car. Despite trying to end the relationship, she was raped by Rossi in his apartment. The victim waited 13 years before contacting the district attorney's office after reading about a case involving Rossi online.

Nicholas Alahverdian, who had been using the alias Arthur Knight in Bristol, denied being Nicholas Rossi or Nicholas Alahverdian when charges were filed in Utah in 2022. However, during the trial in 2024, he acknowledged that he is indeed Nicholas Rossi. The prosecution urged the jury to carefully consider the evidence presented and find the defendant guilty of rape. The defence likened the case to an incomplete puzzle with missing pieces, suggesting that a complete picture may not emerge.
