Join the Billion-View Club: Miley Cyrus's 'We Can't Stop' Music Video Hits Milestone on YouTube

Miley Cyrus has hit another milestone in her music career as her fifth music video, "We Can't Stop," has surpassed one billion views on YouTube. The track, released in 2013 as the lead single from her album Bangerz, was a party anthem produced by Mike Will Made It, P-Nasty, and R. City, with additional lyrics from Cyrus and a sample from Doug E. Fresh's "La Di Da Di."
"We Can't Stop" reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, narrowly missing the top spot due to Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines." The music video, directed by Diane Martel, caused a stir with its provocative content, showcasing Cyrus in a new light as she engaged in various wild and rebellious activities with her friends.
Despite initial criticism of the video's suggestive nature, it quickly gained popularity and set records on Vevo for most views in the first 24 hours and reaching Vevo Certified status for 100 million views in just over a month. The visual was described as subversive, mesmerizing, and unhinged by Billboard at the time of its release.
From scenes of Cyrus making out with a doll to smashing a giant beer bottle piƱata filled with hot dogs, the video embraced loud and proud debauchery with the refrain, "And we can't stop/ And we won't stop/ We run things they don't run we/ Don't take nothing from nobody." This marked Cyrus's fifth music video to reach the one-billion views milestone on YouTube.
