Update on Double Homicide Investigation in Sumter County: Bodies of Kristen Grissom and Christine McAbee Found in Wooded Area

Sumter County officials provided an update on the ongoing double homicide investigation involving the deaths of two women from Charleston County. The bodies of Kristen Grissom and Christine McAbee were discovered in a wooded area near Rembert. McAbee's autopsy revealed she died from a gunshot wound, while Grissom's autopsy was still ongoing at the time of the press conference.
Sheriff Anthony Dennis stated that the bodies were likely placed in the wooded area where they were found, as the landowner had checked the property just 24 hours prior. The relationship between the two women is still under investigation, but they were believed to be at least acquaintances. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the investigation due to its multi-jurisdictional nature.
Sheriff Dennis emphasized that all available resources, including federal assistance, would be utilized to bring justice to the perpetrators of this crime. A $5,000 reward for information related to the case was announced, and the sheriff encouraged anyone with information to contact Sumter County and state Crime Stoppers. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities following up on several tips received regarding the case.
