Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot: Meet the New Slayer and Returning Stars

The upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has unveiled a sneak peek at the new series in a behind-the-scenes video featuring Ryan Kiera Armstrong as the latest slayer, alongside returning star Sarah Michelle Gellar. Production has kicked off on the pilot episode, though a full series order from Hulu is pending. Ryan Kiera Armstrong steps into the iconic role previously held by Sarah Michelle Gellar, who will make a comeback in a recurring capacity. The cast also includes Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso, and Jack Cutmore-Scott.

Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman write and direct the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, in addition to serving as showrunners. The pilot is helmed by Oscar-winning filmmaker ChloƩ Zhao, who is also an executive producer alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar, Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui, and Dolly Parton. The project is a collaboration between 20th Television and Searchlight Television.

The original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, created by Joss Whedon, aired from 1997 to 2003, chronicling Sarah Michelle Gellar's portrayal of a young woman juggling high school life with her destiny as a demon and vampire hunter. The show garnered a devoted following and featured a talented ensemble cast including Alyson Hannigan, Michelle Trachtenberg, David Boreanaz, Nicholas Brendon, and Charisma Carpenter.

With Ryan Kiera Armstrong leading the charge and Sarah Michelle Gellar making a return, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot aims to introduce a new chapter while honoring the essence of the beloved original series.
