Border Tensions Escalate: Thai Soldiers Injured in Landmine Explosion Near Cambodia

Three Thai soldiers were injured in a landmine explosion near the border with Cambodia, following constructive talks between the two countries in Kuala Lumpur. The soldiers were conducting a security sweep in the Don Ao-Krissana border area when one of them triggered the landmine, resulting in injuries to their ankle, arm, back, and head. The soldiers were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai received a report on the blast, stating that the incident occurred during security measures to prevent illegal crossings in the area. This is the third incident in recent weeks where Thai soldiers have been injured by mines while patrolling the border, leading to diplomatic tensions and violent clashes between the two countries.
Thailand and Cambodia recently engaged in deadly border clashes, resulting in casualties and displacements on both sides. A ceasefire has been in place since both countries agreed to allow ASEAN observers to inspect disputed border areas to prevent further hostilities. The accusations of landmine placement by Cambodia and the denial of such actions have been ongoing issues between the two nations.
