UK Man Arrested for Attempted Murder in Florida Vacation Incident

A man from the United Kingdom was arrested for attempted murder in Davenport, Florida, while on vacation. The incident occurred at the Solterra Resort where Mark Raymond Gibbon, 62, allegedly tried to drown his daughter-in-law during an argument in a backyard swimming pool. The daughter-in-law reported that the altercation started over his grandchildren, leading Gibbon to push her head underwater multiple times, preventing her from breathing. The woman's 9-year-old daughter intervened by jumping into the pool, but it was only when two neighboring vacationers called the authorities that Gibbon stopped his actions. He was subsequently charged with attempted second-degree murder and battery and taken into custody by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
