The Legal Battle Unveiled: Taylor Swift's Texts with Blake Lively Revealed in Court

A judge in the US has granted Justin Baldoni's legal team access to text messages exchanged between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively, despite Lively's request to keep the texts private. Lively expressed concerns about potential leaks to the press and accused Baldoni of using Swift to support a public relations narrative outside of court. The judge, Lewis Liman, considered the messages relevant to the case and issued a protective order to prevent their disclosure to the media.
Taylor Swift contributed her song 'My Tears Ricochet' to the soundtrack of the film 'It Ends With Us' in 2020. Lively's legal team argued that Swift had no further involvement with the movie. However, Judge Liman found the messages between Swift and Lively regarding the film and the legal action to be pertinent to discovering information related to Lively's harassment and retaliation claims.
Baldoni's legal team had initially summoned Swift and her attorneys to court but later withdrew the request following objections from Swift's legal team. This development is the latest in a series of legal decisions surrounding the controversy surrounding 'It Ends With Us'. In December 2024, Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual assault on the film set. Subsequently, she filed a lawsuit in New York, which Baldoni countered with allegations of extortion and defamation against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane. Judge Liman dismissed Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit against Lively and others on June 9.
A trial is scheduled for March 2026, with Judge Liman presiding over the case. The legal battle between Baldoni and Lively continues to unfold, with the involvement of high-profile figures like Taylor Swift adding complexity to the proceedings.
