California Man Faces Lengthy Prison Sentence for Child Sexual Exploitation on Tinder
A man from California is facing a lengthy prison sentence for sending an unsolicited video of a young girl being sexually abused to a woman he met on Tinder. Ricardo Gutierrez, 28, is accused of engaging in the sexual exploitation of children by sharing disturbing content with the woman. An investigation revealed that Gutierrez had filmed videos of young children, including a toddler, in Tehama County. He has pleaded guilty to one count of child sexual exploitation and was found with thousands of images of child sexual abuse on his phone.
Gutierrez shared child sexual abuse content over multiple messaging platforms between November 2023 and July 2024. In a separate case in Washington State, a man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for running a Telegram group to arrange "pedophilic relationships." The platform's encryption feature offers privacy for text messages and video calls, but it has also been linked to facilitating crimes like child sexual abuse material exchange.
Gutierrez faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison, with the possibility of up to 30 years, along with a lifetime of supervised release, a restitution order, and a hefty fine. His sentencing is scheduled for September 12. Concerns about child sexual exploitation can be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's CyberTipline online or by phone.
