New Yorkers Lead the Search for Palestine: A Study on Interest in Palestine-Related Topics

New Yorkers have shown a significant interest in Palestine-related topics, as revealed by a recent study. The Empire State has been actively searching for phrases like "Palestine protests," "Free Palestine movement," and "free Palestine flag" online, with an average of 8,260 searches per month since the beginning of the year. This search activity in New York surpasses that of any other state in the US on a per capita basis, with over 41 searches for every 100,000 people in the state.

The most popular search phrase in New York, with 3,600 searches, was "Free Palestine," followed by "Palestine protest" with 1,600 searches. Notably, NYC's Columbia University was a focal point for violent anti-Israel protests last year, mirroring similar demonstrations in California and across the nation. Other search terms related to the study included "free Palestine stickers," "free Palestine posters," and "is Palestine free?"

Vermont ranked second in the study, with nearly 34 searches per 100,000 residents, followed by California with just under 32 searches. California, with its large population of nearly 40 million, recorded approximately 12,570 searches per 100,000 residents seeking information on the movement. This surge in interest followed the deadly attacks by Hamas terrorists on Israel in October 7, 2023, and subsequent anti-Israel protests that spread nationwide.

Following Vermont and California, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Connecticut also showed significant search activity related to the Palestine conflict. In contrast, Arkansas had the lowest number of searches related to the topic, according to the study.

In conclusion, the study highlights the heightened interest in Palestine-related issues among New Yorkers and residents of other states, reflecting a widespread curiosity and engagement with the movement for a free Palestine. The data underscores the diverse perspectives and concerns surrounding the conflict and the ongoing search for information and understanding.
