Trump Signs Executive Orders to Boost American Drone Innovation and Security
President Donald Trump recently signed three executive orders related to drones and aviation technologies in response to mysterious sightings along the East Coast last year. Reports of strange phenomena in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania were eventually determined to be legally operated commercial drones, not UAPs, by the Biden administration. The Trump administration affirmed this determination and signed the orders to focus on American drone dominance, airspace sovereignty, and supersonic flight.
The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director, Michael Kratsios, highlighted the importance of unleashing American drone innovation by reducing red tape that hinders commercial drone use. The executive orders aim to enable beyond-visual-line-of-sight commercial operations, such as drone deliveries, and enhance testing and scaling. Additionally, the orders address the threat of criminal, terrorist, and foreign misuse of drones in the U.S.
By signing these executive orders, President Trump aims to boost American drone technology, secure drone manufacturing supply chains, and reduce reliance on adversarial nations. The orders are designed to promote innovation, enhance safety, and address security concerns related to the use of drones in the United States.
