Seattle Man Charged with Burglarizing Homes of Professional Athletes: The Earl Riley Case

A 21-year-old Seattle man, Earl Riley, is facing charges for allegedly burglarizing the homes of professional athletes. The homes targeted include those of Seattle Mariners’ Julio Rodriguez and Luis Castillo, former Seattle Seahawk Richard Sherman, and Los Angeles Dodgers’ Blake Snell. Riley has been charged with residential burglary and robbery in the first degree for a victim inside Sherman’s home. The investigation, which began in 2025, involved collaboration with multiple police jurisdictions and may lead to additional charges against other suspects.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office worked extensively on obtaining search warrants that resulted in the filing of felony charges against Riley. He is believed to be the ringleader of a crew responsible for a series of burglaries in the community. Despite Riley's previous release after pleading guilty to robbery counts, he was taken back into custody for another pending case involving eluding police and unlawful possession of a firearm. Riley is currently held on $1 million bail, with a court date set for June 16.

The ongoing investigation into the burglaries targeting professional athletes' homes has revealed Earl Riley as a key figure in the criminal activities. The collaboration between the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and multiple police jurisdictions has led to the filing of charges against Riley for residential burglary and robbery in the first degree. Despite his previous release, Riley was taken back into custody for another pending case involving eluding police and unlawful possession of a firearm. The investigation continues, with the possibility of additional charges against other individuals involved in the burglaries.
