Salvadoran Native Mistakenly Deported by Trump Administration Faces Criminal Charges in U.S.

Salvadoran native Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration, is now being brought back to the United States to face criminal charges. He is accused of participating in a conspiracy to transport undocumented migrants within the country. A federal grand jury has indicted Abrego Garcia on two counts for his alleged involvement in transporting non-citizens from Texas to various parts of the U.S. over nearly a decade. The indictment includes allegations of transporting members of the MS-13 gang and children from Mexico and Central America.

Abrego Garcia, 29, had been living in Maryland with his wife and children before being deported to El Salvador in March. Despite a court order in 2019 that prevented his deportation to El Salvador due to fear of persecution, the Trump administration claimed he was a member of MS-13 and sent him to the CECOT mega-prison in El Salvador. His wife and legal representatives have denied the allegations of his MS-13 affiliation.

The case against Abrego Garcia is still unfolding, and more details may emerge as the investigation progresses. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
