Manhunt for Travis Decker: Seeking Justice for Three Young Daughters

A man in central Washington state is being sought by authorities on suspicion of murder after his three young daughters were reported missing and later found dead. Travis Decker, 32, is wanted for three counts of murder and kidnapping in connection with the case. The girls, ages 9, 8, and 5, were reported missing by their mother after their father failed to return them following a planned visit.

Decker, a former Army soldier with extensive training, was believed to be living out of a white 2017 GMC Sierra pickup with Washington plates. His unoccupied truck was discovered near a campground west of Leavenworth, where the bodies of the girls were found. The girls were believed to have died from asphyxiation, with their wrists zip-tied, according to court documents.

Authorities urged anyone who may have seen Decker since Friday or knows his current whereabouts to contact 911. The Wenatchee School District confirmed that the girls were students at Lincoln Elementary and that counseling services were available to students and staff.

The mother of the girls expressed concern to police as Decker had never been late returning the girls before and was reportedly experiencing mental health issues. The Washington State Patrol initially declined to issue an Amber Alert as the case did not meet the criteria for suspected abduction and imminent peril of death or serious injury.

Decker, who joined the Army in 2013 and later transferred to the Washington National Guard, had stopped attending mandatory drills over a year ago. The Guard was in the process of a disciplinary discharge for him. The Chelan County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with U.S. Marshals, was leading the search for Decker in the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest area, with a reward of up to $20,000 offered for information leading to his arrest.

The tragic incident has deeply affected the community and law enforcement agencies involved in the search for Decker. The search for Decker continued as authorities followed up on potential leads and tips regarding his whereabouts. The case has prompted a reevaluation of alert systems to ensure better outcomes in similar situations in the future.
